Privacy Policy

Last updated August 5, 2026

This policy explains what information Trophe ("we," "us") collects when you use the app, how we use it, and who we share it with. Trophe is a personal project run by an individual developer, not a company — treat this as a plain-language description of our actual practices, not a formal legal document.

Information we collect

When you create an account or use Trophe, we collect:

  • Account information — your email address and password (your password is handled entirely by our authentication provider, Supabase, and we never see it in plain text).
  • Profile information — age, sex, height, weight, activity level, fitness goal, meals per day, cuisine preferences, and grocery budget, if you choose to provide them.
  • Meal plans you generate or save, and any plans you choose to share via a link.
  • Basic usage analytics — such as which pages you visit and actions like completing signup, via Vercel Analytics. This is cookieless and does not identify you personally.
  • IP address, temporarily, if you use the free calculator tool without an account — this is used only to apply a daily usage limit and is not linked to any other data we store about you.
  • Advertising interactions — if you arrive at Trophe after clicking an Instagram or Facebook ad, Meta's advertising pixel records that click and whether you went on to sign up or subscribe, so we can tell whether the ad worked. See "Cookies and local storage" below.

How we use your information

  • To generate personalized nutrition and meal plan suggestions based on the profile information you provide.
  • To save your plans so you can return to them later.
  • To send you account-related emails (confirming your email address, password resets, and similar).
  • To understand, in aggregate, how people use Trophe so we can improve it.
  • To measure how well our Instagram/Facebook ads are performing, and to avoid showing you ads that aren't relevant.

Third parties we share data with

We use a small number of third-party services to run Trophe. We don't sell your data to anyone.

  • Supabase — hosts our database and handles authentication (sign-up, sign-in, password storage).
  • Anthropic (Claude) — the profile information you enter is sent to Anthropic's API to generate your meal plan suggestions.
  • Resend — delivers our transactional emails (signup confirmation, password reset, etc.).
  • Vercel — hosts the app and provides basic, cookieless usage analytics.
  • Meta (Instagram/Facebook) — if you click through to Trophe from one of our Instagram or Facebook ads, Meta's advertising pixel shares data about that visit back with us so we can measure ad performance. Meta's handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy, not ours.

If you use the "share plan" feature, anyone with the generated link can view that specific plan — treat share links like you would any other link you post publicly.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account exists. We don't yet have a self-serve "delete my account" button in the app — if you'd like your account and data deleted, email us at hello@trophe.fitand we'll take care of it. IP addresses collected for the free calculator's rate limit are tied to a single calendar day and are not kept beyond that.

Cookies and local storage

We use your browser's session storage briefly, on your device only, to carry a meal plan between pages when you load a saved plan — this data is never sent to us and clears when you close your browser tab.

If you arrive at Trophe after clicking an Instagram or Facebook ad, we also use Meta's advertising pixel — a small tracking cookie that tells us which ad you clicked and whether you went on to sign up or subscribe. We use this only to measure whether our ads are working and to avoid showing you ads that aren't relevant. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time via Meta's Ad Preferences, or by blocking third-party cookies in your browser.

Children's privacy

Trophe is not intended for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
